Deleted homepage

I deleted the homepage as I was trying to start from scratch. Now as I try to apply the theme ‘Twenty Sixteeen’, I can see a home page if I go to the site but it does appear in the list of pages. It also does not apply all the items from the theme. Is there a way to just start fresh with the theme without loosing my current domain?

Hi there,
Switching themes just changes the design of your site. With most themes it doesn’t affect your content in any way, i.e. changing themes neither adds nor removes content on the site.
With our newest themes on WordPress.com you also have the option to have the theme’s default homepage added on your site, but that feature doesn’t exist for older themes like Twenty Sixteen.
To have a homepage on your site, you first need to create one, at Pages ->Add New. Then go to Appearance ->Customize ->Homepage Settings, and set that as your site’s front page. Otherwise the homepage will try to display your latest posts instead.
