deleted hosting account now can’t access wordpress admin/dashboard?
-
A weird thing has happened, I was hosting my site with a landing page platform. I closed that account and now can’t access my WP-Admin at all, it says my email or account ID isn’t known.
So my entire website and all assets are in limbo somewhere and I cant access to change the domain host settings to the new host?!

What I’m posting from now is a really old account that I’ve come accross in my searches for my current site

Hi there,
The forum you are posting to now is for the hosting provider, WordPress.com. Your username account with us have no connection at all to the admin user account for your site you had hosted somewhere else.
You need to contact the hosting provider where you have that site hosted directly for help with this, as only they have the access to your site that’s needed to help with this.

yes Kokkieh, I’m looking to regain access to my WordPress account with all the pages. Which currently should be accessible just not live.
Yes the hosting is separate, which should just mean I can transfer the hosting from A to B but the site is created in WP.

I’m afraid it’s not that simple.
Your site wasn’t created “in WordPress”. WordPress is the name of the software. That software was installed on your hosting provider’s servers, and when you closed your hosting account, all your site’s files, including all the content, was deleted from your hosting provider’s servers.
The admin account you used to log into that site was itself part of the site – it existed in the site database on your hosting provider’s servers, and was deleted along with your site’s files when you closed your hosting account.
WordPress.com, where you’re posting now, is a completely different hosting provider for the WordPress software. Your site’s files were never stored on our servers, or connected to any account on our platform, so we have absolutely no way to restore your content from our end – we can’t restore something we’ve never had access to.
So your old hosting provider is the only people who might still be able to restore your site for you.

thanks for your reply @Kokkieh,
Now I think I’ve worked out that my site was probably created on the other WordPress.org (not wordpress.com)?
I didn’t create the site with the hosting platform. I built direct onto WP and set up the domains with the hosting site. Im sure the hosting came after I built it on the WP software?
If I’m still incorrect then of course I understand it would have been deleted when the hosting was closed. Which would be a friggin nightmare :-(

I’d suggest contacting your host to see what options they give you; maybe it’s not all lost after all.
If you’re not sure where your site is hosted, you can share its URL, and we’ll help you out with that.
