Deleted media can still be accessed

    I have deleted some PDFs, but the PDF is still accessible via the link found on my website. Also if I uploaded the exact same file with the exact same name, the generated link automatically get a different name than the one I just deleted.

    I can’t find options to delete them permanently. Could you please help? Thank you!

    It is likely that the files are still cached on the WordPress.com server.

    That’s accurate. Deleting the file won’t “free up” a link with the same name again.

    If you’ll need to give out a link to a PDF file that you’ll be updating regularly, I’d recommend creating a page for it, and linking to that page. Then you can update the PDF as needed while the page link stays the same.

    OR, you could consider putting it on Google Drive or something similar, and linking to that instead. Let us know if you have questions.

    And, if you need us to clear cache for the PDF, send a link and we’ll get it done (and then redact the link for you.)
