Deleted 'Media Folder'
-
Hi, my friend has been working really hard on her school project and she told me she deleted her ‘media folder’ and everything is gone… is there still a way to recover that? Please help. It would mean a lot for her. https://roxanehermetz.wordpress.com/

Hi there,
The media folder itself would not be accessible by a user to delete. But it is possible that the Multiple Images feature was used to select and delete all the images in the Media Library.
If this is the case, then as far as I know, the images cannot be recovered.
If the site was crawled/indexed by Google, then there may be a cached version of the site in the Wayback Machine that might still have the images available for you to save.
https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://roxanehermetz.wordpress.com/But the site, https://roxanehermetz.wordpress.com/ is currently blocked as a Protected blog, so it is difficult to help without having access to it.
However, I will go ahead and type the ‘modlook’ tab so that a Staff member can confirm if the images are lost, or can be recovered.

Hi @razvanlupu96, unfortunately we do take those deletions pretty seriously, otherwise folks would complain that they can’t delete their data. As Leif pointed out, there’s no way to delete the folder, but users can bulk delete their images if they click past the warnings.
If your friend is willing to get in touch with us and let us know what she was trying to do by deleting her media, we’d like to help her solve that if we can. Perhaps we can use her perspective to help others avoid a similar situation.
