Once a WordPress.com blog is deleted it’s gone forever. This is made clear biw 3 warnings and a verification link in an email when deleting a blog. No URLs are recycled and they cannot be reused by anyone once a blog is deleted.

As you cannot register a deleted blog URL you must register another one. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/ -
I am in the same position as ‘paradigmpurposed’ – a (wordpress.com) blog I created I subsequently deleted – intentionally.
More than this, however, there are two or three other WordPress (.com) blogs I have also established which remain active (and were active at the same time as the deleted blog was active). But, whenever I access WordPress, there is the ghost of this deleted blog saying it no longer exists.
If it is deleted and acknowledged by WordPress as deleted, why on earth does WordPress insist on displaying this ghost site instead of any of the other active sites for log-in purposes?
Very irritating.

The scenario is as follows:
1) I select one of the WordPress (.com) blogs I administer or to which I subscribe. e.g., wmllf (which I administer). That is, I expressly select, say, wmllf.wordpress.com.
(See Word doc with screenshots. The url as shown for that screenshot is copied below the shot.)
2) I click on “My Blog” tab and up pops the url for the deleted blog. And, if I go further, the “ghost” page for that deleted blog is displayed – second screenshot, with url copied below it.
3) If it is deleted, why is it there at all?
(I was the administrator of that deleted blog – it was a closed (non-public) blog in any event.)
4) Before you ask, Yes, I can insert the username and password for a “different” blog, which, annoyingly, includes the very blog I wanted in the first place; but that still doesn’t explain why the reference to the deleted blog persists in making itself known and, more especially, forces me to introduce additional information (username and p/w) which, as I had already selected that site, shouldn’t be necessary.
(I can’t see how to send the screenshots document as an attachment or in any other way. I tried copy and paste, but all it actually pasted were the two urls referred to above.

http://eandv.wordpress.com/ appears to have been deleted. You may simply be looking at a cached dashboard. Try the Cookie Dance: log out, clear browser cache and cookies, and restart the computer. See if that clears it up.

Although I knew I was wasting my time doing as you suggested, I did delete all cookies and history. As said, I knew I was wasting my time. (My settings are such that history is deleted on closing the browser, and cookies are controlled.)
However, there is the feature (the “My Blog” tab along with its WordPress logo) which, independently of what has been suggested to date, I decided to investigate further. It is this tab which specifically referred to the deleted blog by its url and which, when clicked, threw up the “ghost” blog page (saying the blog had been deleted).
I right-clicked on this tab and, of the options, selected “Properties”. At last! Something which made sense! Within this field (“Properties”), I could change the url address (which displayed the deleted blog address). I have now done so, changed the blog address.
Thus, but not knowing when or how the WordPress “My Blog” tab was introduced into my browser (Firefox) bar, it is this tab which has been the problem all along.
Thanks for your patience. The problem seems to have been the browser tab. If it is the case that WordPress “sponsors” that tab within my browser bar, it (WP) may want to be aware of its limitations and irritations where one has or is a member of more than one blog.
