Deleted myblog.wordpress.com, but post still showing.

Hi. I just deleted artisanfusion.wordpress.com, but artisanfusion.ca (which redirected to the .wordpress.com version) still shows the only post ever put up on the site. How can I get rid of it?

    http://artisanfusion.ca/

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Primary Blog is Set

artisanfusion.ca is set as the primary domain for artisanfusion.wordpress.com and will appear in the address bar when you visit the site.

You always have a base blog (in your case artisanfusion.wordpress.com) when domain mapping is used – everything is working correctly for your visitors

Are you trying to completely delete all traces of the blog from the internet?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I’m pretty sure I did this backwards. I’d like to delete all of the content (the current post)… but keep the .ca URL for use waaaay in the future. Basically I’d like to just leave a big empty space when people type in the URL.

…sorry, so I have to cancel the domain mapping?

The leave a web site up that is empty without the “sorry nothing is found” irritating message – edit the Welcome Page down to just a sentence or so – to the effect of coming soon – just a junior version of the page you have now –

I personally would keep the domain mapping (and the domain registration so the domain name artisanfusion.ca does not expire and get picked up by someone else – the cost of domain registration is cheap insurance to keep the name and adding domain mapping keeps things looking professional with a real landing page on the internet

Sorry if I seem lost. So, because I lost the ‘edit post’ functions to the blog when I deleted the WP.com, I basically open another WP blog, and have the .ca URL mapped to it?

…or: how do I edit the blog post that’s up without access to the deleted Dashboard?

I think it’s done for now… I redirected the DNS settings on the .ca account, so now there’s a “nothing is found” page, but I’ll set up another WP blog to redirect to so it’ll look better.

Thanks for your help, auxclass. I do have one last question: is it possible to have the artisanfusion.ca URL redirect to an existing URL (2 URL’s, 1 blog)?

    Thanks again.

  • but keep the .ca URL for use waaaay in the future. Basically I’d like to just leave a big empty space when people type in the URL.

If you are not pointing the .ca domain to WordPress.com any longer, you do not need the domain mapping upgrade. I can refund that for you if you like.

I appreciate the offer, but I used an Internet debit/credit card to sign up, so I don’t think a refund is possible … I managed to get rid of the post in question, so I’m okay for now.

Hi. Me again. Sorry for popping up like this. I’ve started a new WP.com blog, and would like to map the artisanfusion.ca URL to it, but I’m being told I can’t because the URL is mapped to the previous, and now-deleted, blog (artisanfusion.wordpress.com). I’m willing to pay for the mapping again, so is there a way to get this done, or have I permanently screwed myself..?

  • No worries. I should be able to get that fixed for you. What is the _______.wordpress.com URL of the new site?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi. Thanks for doing this. The new URL is artisanconfusion.wordpress.com. I will be co-administrator the blog until the mapping is complete, then I’ll withdraw and let them deal with it afterwards.

    Thanks again.

  • Since this is a new site for another user. The easiest way to go about it is for me to refund and cancel your existing upgrade (which I have done). And you should now be able to map that domain from the new site.

Let me know if you have any trouble.
