Deleted Posts

    My ex wife decided she didnt like the posts I had been making on my blog and decided to delete all of them. Is there any way they could be recovered? Not re-posted on the blog, just recovered and emailed to me. If there is any way for me to be able to get them back, but not post them on my blog, maybe just in a text file or something, that would be fantastic. Thank you SO much!!!

    Hi there,

    I took a look in your account and the posts are well and truly gone. I have reached out to some of our guys who are responsible for maintaining our backups to see what if anything they can do for you, however I have no way of knowing just now if there will be anything they can do.

    Something you might want to consider is checking out Google’s Cache system (whenever google crawls a page, they make a copy of it. You can google your own site and then click on “View Cached Version” to see their copy). You also might want to check out the Wayback Machine at:

    Hiya,

    I just heard back and while we can do a restore of your site, we can only restore it to YOUR site. We don’t have anything in place wherein we can just provide you a backup.

    However one of my coworkers had an idea:

    • You can set your site to be fully private (so nobody sees it and the only way to get access is if they have been invited and have a username/password).
    • We could then do the restore of your site.
    • Once the restore is complete, you could do an export of your site, using our export tool. It will give you a .xml copy, which isn’t easy to read on your own but will allow you to import it into any other site if you ever decide to.
    • Once you have exported the site, you can re-delete all of your older posts and set your blog back to being public.
