DELETED posts show in the Reader! HELP!

  • @allexpo

Good, but I want you to close my account, and delete my data stored by Automattic as I do not use your services anymore, and then you do not need my data.

If you want to close your WordPress.com account, you can do that from the account settings page at https://wordpress.com/me/account

For security reasons only someone logged into the account can do this. We cannot delete an account on your behalf.

I do not want to show the current posts, I want to show 404 for me!

The WordPress.com Reader pulls in posts from your site’s public RSS feed. It’s essentially just a RSS feed reader, no different from any other such tool on the web.

As long as your site offers a public RSS feed, anyone at all will be able to subscribe to it in the WordPress.com Reader – all they’d need to do is paste your site’s RSS feed into the Search bar, and a new Reader feed will be created for your site. So we cannot completely remove your site from the Reader.

If you don’t want people to be able to subscribe to your site in this way, you will first need to disable the public RSS feed on the site itself. You’ll also need to completely remove the Jetpack connection for the site – it looks like you’ve done that already.

After you’ve disabled the RSS feed on your site, let us know and we can manually refresh the Reader feed for your site again. That should remove the remaining posts without adding them back, as they won’t be accessible any more via RSS at that point.

Just note that disabling the RSS feed will also mean no one will be able to follow your site via any other RSS reader either.

If you want to close your account, see instructions https://wordpress.com/support/close-account/. All data will be purged after 30 days and your wordpress.com account will be locked forever.
I hope you realise by putting your data on the internet almost ‘everybody’ is able to retrieve, read and even use all data on your site? E.g. your RSS-feed is publicly available at https://expofield.com/feed/

I’ve never enabled the RRS feed, but I’ve disabled it anyway, you can update the Reader.

Thank you, staartmees. I’ll see what can I do for that.

However I find using my data without my permission as a copyright violation.

Never forget “everything you put on the internet can and will be copies, used, misused, … one way or another. And there is no way you can prevent it. You can only make it a bit more difficult, but there will always be a way around.”

  • I’ve disabled it anyway, you can update the Reader.

I’ve updated the Reader, as explained above. I hope that helps.
