deleted site

    Hi.. I updated the name of my blog from oceansoriginals because I was trying to rebrand. I assumed that any visits to oceansoriginals would be redirected to the new address. Is there any way to fix this problem? I’ve put some work into oceansoriginals and now i feel like i have to start all over again.

    The only site I see under your @myadventuresincrochetland WordPress.com account when I check on our end. is:
    – myadventuresincrochetland.wordpress.com

    I checked the site I see on your account but they do not match the issue you are describing. Is the issue with a different site that you do not see listed here, and is possibly under another login instead?   What is the URL of the site you are needing help with?

    Happy to check in our system so we can take a closer look.

    Thank you for getting back to me. The site was originally oceansoriginals.wordpress.com. I believe it was 2 days ago that I changed oceansoriginals.wordpress.com to myadventuresincrochetland.wordpress.com. Some options came up, something about keeping the data on the oceansoriginals site and creating a new site, removing the data and removing the site.. something to that effect. I think I selected to remove the site only because I assumed the page would have redirected to the myadventuresincrochetland site as I just changed the name. I’m using the same email and password that I originally used to log in.

    Ah okay. I found the site; it was deleted when you renamed it.

    If you’d like, we can restore the site and you can add a redirect upgrade to it, so that old links will be sent to the new one. Will that work for you?

    Oh. I can’t actually upgrade as I don’t have the means for online transactions yet. Is it possible to just restore the site and upgrade to a redirect link when I can?

    Sure thing! I’ve restored the site for you, so when you get a chance, you can add the redirect here:

    https://wordpress.com/domains/add/site-redirect/oceansoriginals.wordpress.com

    I’d recommend doing that soon if you had significant traffic going to the old links, but if you’re not too worried about that and just want to make the empty site private for now, you can do that here: https://wordpress.com/settings/oceansoriginals.wordpress.com

    OR: you could export from the new site, import to the old site, make the new site private and work on whatever changes you want, then when you’re ready, proceed to add the redirect and make the newly branded site live.

    I hope that’s not too confusing! Just want to make sure you’re aware of your options, so if you have questions, please let us know.
