Deleted site – new name

  Hello,

  I’ve just deleted my blog site ‘Odedoka’ cause I wanted to change site profile from blog to portfolio and now the name is blocked. Is there any chance to get my site name back?

  Hi Adrian,

  Deleting a site permanently removes it and you’ll never be able to re-use its WordPress.com address (such as yourgroovysite.wordpress.com).

  It’s also worth noting, users are often under the impression their site will get “locked” into a certain style during the initial site creation process, specifically when first starting out, and they are presented with the options: Start With A Blog, Start With A Website, Start With A Portfolio.

  This particular step is simply to help WordPress suggest site themes for whichever type of site you decide on.

  So when you chose to setup your site as a blog, WordPress presented some “blog-style” themes to choose from. If you were to have selected “Start With A Portfolio”, you would have been presented with “portfolio-style” themes.

  So for future reference, to change the style of your site, you would simply need to change its theme by choosing one from the theme directory (not deleting the site entirely):
