deleted site still online

  This is complicated. Please bear with me. I am inquiring on behalf of my web design client who owns the site in question but is not so good about dealing with these kinds of matters. So he provided me with his login which is how I signed into this forum.

  Long story short. He attempted to permanently delete 1 of 2 sites under his account, received the confirmation email (I’ve seen it), and clicked the link to delete it. However that link merely deleted a third site he didn’t even remember he had. And the site he wanted to delete is no longer seen (or hidden) in his dashboard but is clearly still online.

  The site in question is:

  https://investigations.wordpress.com

  The link he received in the deletion confirmation email referenced another site though, which he did not realize. That is obvious by the URL he was requested to click to confirm. And we’re fine with that 3rd site being deleted. But the one he needs deleted is still online.

  I modified that confirmation link to reference the site we want deleted and got a message that it doesn’t belong to the account under which he is logged in — which is his only wordpress.com account. And I believe that is because the site was deleted from his account —- but not from the web.

  I can confirm that the site linked above was recently in his only wordpress.com account. I logged in myself, exported the entire blog, and have imported it into his new wordpress.org blog. So I know it was there. Now, of course, it is gone from his dashboard and any attempts to access it will not work — including wordpress.com’s lost account access form.

  So how do we remove the site from the web?

  Hi @ableinvestigations,

  The user account you’re current writing from (ableinvestigations) is not a user on or an owner of the site you mention (investigations.wordpress.com). Additionally, it doesn’t look like this user account has been removed from that site in the recent past.

  In order to delete that site, you will need to login under the correct account and follow the instructions here:
