Deleted something that could be important on Connected Applications

  • Unknown's avatar

So I went to Profile–>Security–>Connected Applications and then when I was on it, I saw WordPress.com as a connected source. I accidentally removed it. How do I put it back?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi There

Was wondering did you log into WordPress.com on a mobile phone using the WordPress app?

    Let me know.

I did, but I was curious if that was what I had disconnected from, but it doesn’t seem to be that. I made a random account with a different email and it shows it’s again connected to WordPress.com. But I didn’t log in on any device other than my Mac so now I don’t know if this will affect anything or not because I’m now having some issues with loading stuff on my profile… So I don’t know if that’s affecting it? :S

Was wondering on the Mac did you just go to the web browser to access WordPress.com or did you use the Desktop App?

Also here is some info on Connected Apps:

What issue are you having with your profile?

I went to the WordPress.com website.

When I go on my profile it just keeps telling me i’m having issues connecting to it and it won’t load properly.

I’ve also checked out the site, it doesn’t say anything about disconnecting to the WordPress.com one from the connected applications, so I don’t even know if that’s a problem or not now. :S

  • Hi there,

I’ve never seen WordPress.com listed on that page, so it might be something we changed recently. You definitely shouldn’t be able to disconnect WordPress.com from your WordPress.com account :D

I’m asking our developers about this, but can you please provide the username of your other account where you disconnected this setting?

And when you say your profile won’t load properly, what do you mean exactly? What page are you trying to load, and happens when you do?

    The username is: devisedbetweenlines

The pop up that i keep getting says “an error occurred while fetching your account recovery settings wordpress” and it only happens when I click on the profile icon and try to load anything on my settings. It just gives the pop up and then I can’t seem to load anything so I just close Chrome and then open it and wait for it to load. But it also loads slower than usual since I disconnected that. It wasn’t happening before, but it happens frequently now I wasn’t sure if I had disconnected something important or if i’m having problems with the browser or something else.

    Thank you!

  • Okay, good news is, the issues you’re experiencing is unlikely to be related to that connection you removed. That connection being visible appears to be a bug, but disconnecting it doesn’t actually do anything.

I checked your account on my end, and I can load all the pages in your account profile section, so the fact that it’s not loading for you is most likely a problem in your browser. Please try logging in in an incognito window in Chrome. If you can access your profile that way, clear your browser cache and cookies and then things should be back to normal if you use a non-incognito tab as well.
