Deleted WordPress Post

  Hello,

  I accidentally published a post that I did not want published. I went back in to edit and changed its ‘published’ status to ‘pending review.’ But the link was still working and still shows up on Google. So I moved it to the ‘trash,’ and then emptied the trash. Now, I cannot edit the article but its link is still working and it still shows up on Google. How can I fix this?

  First, make sure the working link isn’t actually a different post or page. A post in the trash shouldn’t still work, especially if you’re signed out.

  As far as things appearing in Google, it can take several weeks for them to drop things from search results. You can request they take down removed pages using this form: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals?pli=1
