Deleted wordpress site still connected to domain?

  • Unknown's avatar

I transfer my Domain to WordPress, but due to me breaking my site, I deleted it. Now I want to use it through Strato, but it’s unable to connect it since it’s telling me that it’s still connected to, probably WordPress.

Is there any way to disconnect it when my site is already deleted?

  • Hi there,

I understand that you’re facing issues with connecting your domain to your new provider. I’d be more than happy to assist you in resolving this.

When you deleted your WordPress.com site, your domain was also canceled. Whenever a site is deleted, it includes all associated services, such as your domain, which was explicitly stated in the warnings presented to you during the deletion process.

Now, your domain, stjaimy.com, is in a state known as redemption. This occurs when a domain has been canceled or has expired, and is in a grace period during which it can be recovered.

To restore a domain from redemption, there is a fee of $80. This fee is imposed by our domain registrar. I understand that this might be an unexpected expense, but unfortunately, it’s a necessary step to recover your domain.

If you agree to the redemption fee, we can proceed with the restoration process. Once you confirm, I’ll send you a payment form for the redemption fee. Once the payment is processed, we’ll work to restore your domain as quickly as possible.

Please let me know if you agree to the redemption fee, or if you have any more questions or concerns.

Thank you so much for your response. That sounds logical. but in that case, I rather wait until this Redemption period runs out.

  • One thing to be aware of is that during the redemption period your domain is not for sale to the public. But it is up for sale at a ‘private wholesale auction conducted by the registry.

This can mean that sometimes the domain will be purchased by someone else before it goes on sale to the public, as well as standard “back-order” companies that sometimes wait for domains to be released and purchase them the moment they become available. There is always a risk that you may not be able to purchase your domain at the end of the redemption period.

With this in mind, do you wish to reconsider? As your previous registrar we have the right to recover the domain at any time during the redemption period, though as mentioned above there is a fee that we are not able to waive since it is charged to us by the registry that holds the domain during redemption.

Let us know how you would like to proceed or if you have any questions.
