Deleted wordpress.com, .org keeps redirecting

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi everyone, I’m hoping you can help me. I had my blog under wordpress.com, I transferred everything to wordpress.org so just thetarottalk.com. I then deleted thetarottalk.wordpress.com blog as they were both appearing under “my blogs” when I logged on to wordpress.
Now under “blog blogs” when I click on “The Tarot Talk” (.com’s) dashboard I am redirected to the wordpress.com blog’s login. I can’t seem to get to the login page http://www.thetarottalk.com/wp-admin to log on, it keeps redirecting me. What is going on?
I so appreciate any help, this stuff is beyond me and I do the best I can but it’s just one thing after another.
    Thank you!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

ok, now it’s making a liar out of me. When I clicked on the link above to login the link worked and I was able to log on and edit! Is it redirecting because I needed to clear my cache? It seems so sporadic, like it works sometimes but then when my login session expires and I go to log in again I’m redirected to the orginal wordpress.com login.

Also, now that I am inside the dashboard the old wordpress.com site is appearing under the domain thetarottalk.com instead of the new, edited selfhosted site. is that because the domain thetarottalk.com is still mapped to the wordpress.com site (that I just deleted)? Do I just need to wait until that domain is released again and the edited site will appear?

You should have transferred the domain first, then deleted the blog. I have flagged this for staff to sort out.

Thank you, raincoaster for you response! Yes I completely realize this now, and I’m assuming that the domain name is still mapped to the old wordpress.com blog and that is the source of my issues. So I also sent an email to support asking to please have this domain unmapped/deleted, and I uninstalled wordpress from my host godaddy. So I am hoping that this fixes the problem, and when the domain is no longer mapped to the old wordpress blog I can reinstall and start fresh (which means completely redoing everything but that’s ok at this point and I wasn’t too far into the blog anyway)…

Just re-install WordPress on Godaddy and then hang tight and wait for a staff response.

  • Hi there, I’ve removed the domain mapping on this end for thetarottalk.com. I can see that you’ve restored your WordPress site on GoDaddy and that your login page appears when I visit the link below:

    http://thetarottalk.com/wp-login.php

If you still end up on your WordPress.com account, you’ll need to clear your browser cache as explained here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies

Please let me know if you continue to have a problem with this.

Thank you so much raincoaster and beckett for your help! Beckett, yes that solved the problem and everything seems to be working correctly. Next time I know what to do :P for everyone out there get the domain unmapped, then set up the self hosted blog THEN export and then delete the original one. Pretty much did it all backwards. Thank you everyone!
