Deleted words in a block!
-
I discovered a few minutes ago that if you make a post it will show up in your site. I had previously just been writing in blocks directly. As I was transferring my writing blocks into posts, I accidentally deleted my first and most important post. The block post was named the name of my site. Is there any way to recover this writing? I have already tried looking in to deleted posts to restore it but it won’t show because it technically wasn’t a post. It was just a written block.

Hi,
I have already tried looking in to deleted posts to restore it but it won’t show because it technically wasn’t a post. It was just a written block.
The latest WordPress.com editor uses blocks to create content, so if you’re writing in blocks on a WordPress.com site, then presumably you’re doing so in a post or page editor.
If a block that you’ve written in gets inadvertently deleted, then you should be able to recover it from post or page revisions. The Post and Page Revisions support page explains how to view, compare, and restore a post or page revision.
If I’ve misunderstood, and you weren’t writing in blocks in a post or page editor, then where exactly were these blocks?

Also, if a significant portion of the content of a block is inadvertently deleted, then again you’ll ordinarily be able to recover it from a post or page revision, because as the support page says:
As you write and edit your posts and pages on WordPress.com, the changes you make are automatically saved every few seconds.

I followed your suggestion to recover my posts from page revisions and it worked! I really thought my words had disappeared into the cyberspace. This feature is amazing. Thank you.
