deleting 1 site name, and using that deleted name on another wordpress site name

  Hi. I have 2 sites on wordpress under 1 account – livingaftercancerblog.wordpress.com and patriciarodimtl.wordpress.com. The second site has no data, I currently post only through livingaftercancerblog. I would like to delete patriciarodimtl and change livingaftercancerblog to patriciarodimtl. I know that I can delete the unwanted site, but can I do this name change using a name that has been deleted? Will I lose my followers? If I use the new URL link, will users be able to see the older posts that are always within the livingaftercancerblog, now to be named patriciarodimt? Thank you for your reply!

  Hi @patriciarodimtl, don’t delete the patriciarodimtl.wordpress.com address — deleting it actually just clears content and deactivates the address, and it’s irreversible after 30 days.

  Instead, since the address you want already exists, you’ll want to export from the old site, and import into the new site:
  https://wordpress.com/export/ (select the old site)
  https://wordpress.com/import/ (select the new address)

  You might need to set up the theme and what not as well. Let us know when you’re ready, and we can move your followers & stats to the new site.

  We also have a site redirect upgrade will redirect visitors from the old address to the new one, if they’re clicking on older links from search engines, social media, email, etc. I recommend it for the first year. You can learn more about that here:
