deleting a abandoned blog (admin doesn't exist any longer)

  hi team, since 2010 we don’t follow up the blog ” http://autorenkreissonbaulo.wordpress.com”. the group doesn’t exist any more. i’ve only autor in that group. the ‘admin’ has left the group and nobody is able to delete the blog or this account. what can be done to proceed?

  Thanks for contacting us. The owner of the blog will need to delete the blog or reply to this forum thread. If they’re able to log into their account, they can follow the steps here:

  Delete a Website

  If they aren’t able to log in, they can reset the password by entering the email address here:

  Hi Brian,

  Thank you for your reply. I understand the problematic of ‘deleting an account if you’re NOT the owner’!! But, as normal, a group of persons (in this case writers) has established a blog for the group.

  One, who knows how to act in internet and wordpress, says: ‘Ok, I’ll do that..!’
  If THIS ONE a) now has left the group, b) the group doesn’t exist any longer, too and nobody has any idea about a password or user..
  you are going to tell me, Bryan.. that this blog can’t be deleted during the next 100 years (let me say)??

  There must be something wrong!.. (as I can see).

  Hi there,

  Yes, that is correct, as it turns out. We have to have a policy in place that will protect legitimate users who do not want their blog shut down, but someone else says that they can speak on their behalf and asks for it to be deleted; that’s why this is the way it is.

  What I can do is set the blog to private. It won’t be deleted for the original user account, but it also won’t be available for anyone but the original owner to view. If you have the direct URL and type it in, you won’t be able to see the blog, for example, and it won’t show up in search engines.

  Would that solution work for you and your group?

  Zandy, right now I tried the link to ‘Autorengruppe…’.. and it shows up in my browser.

  This is, because I’m in the ‘author’ role.. or, it takes time to set in ‘private’ status?

  It’s because you’re an invited user, yes. Other users won’t be able to see it, however!
