Deleting a Blog Category
-
I’m new to WordPress and trying to sort out all the functions. I accidentally added a blog subcategory that I don’t want, so I’d like to delete it. However, I can’t figure out how to delete it. All the help articles I’ve read say you have to go to ‘dashboard’, go to ‘Posts’, and then to ‘Categories’, but I don’t know what the dashboard is and haven’t found any tabs called posts or categories. The screen shots in the help articles also don’t match what I see on my own screen. Have I been looking at old help posts or am I simply not in the right place on my own screen?
How can I delete a category that I don’t want?
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Haley,
The dashboard on WordPress is like the control panel, where you can edit and control everything on your WordPress website. It’s also referred to as the backend of your website. This simply means that this is the part of your WordPress website that your visitors will not see, while the front end is where the visitors of your webpage will see.
To get to your dashboard, simply add /wp-admin after your domain, so:
terralensblog.wordpress.com/wp-adminLog in with your log in details, and voila! your inside your dashboard or backend. On your left side, you should see a menu, and this is where you will find the link called “Posts”. Hover your mouse cursor over it, and a new menu will appear. This is where you click on “Categories”. On your right side of the screen, all your current categories should be listed. There is also a little box to the left of every category name. Click the checkbox of the post you want to delete, and then go a little bit upwards to a drop down menu that is named “Bulk actions”. Then chose delete. Hope this helps. Let me know if it doesn’t =)
