Deleting a blog from my account?
-
I had registered one of my client’s blogs under my username on wordpress.com and I would like to delete/transfer that blog/domain so that my client can add it to her own account and see her WordPress Blog Stats. She has her own wordpress.com account.
How can I do this? Please help. Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The blog you specified at http://www.rosaliewilson.com does not appear to be hosted at WordPress.com.
This support forum is for WordPress.com hosted blogs only. If you have a self-hosted WordPress blog you need to seek help at the WordPress.org forums, not here.
If you don’t understand the difference, you may find this information helpful.

Thank you for the robotic response. I had the same problem posting this through the support form because it is limiting. This is a wordpress.com issue and not .org issue. Please help.

A search of the support pages for “transfer blog” brought this: http://support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/

And there is only one post in the forums showing for the username you are signed in under.

I followed those directions by contacting support and having my friend sign up for her own account. Or at least I tried. … the form has a drop down menu (required field) to select which blog the question is about. All of the addresses listed (my blogs) are self-hosted. So submitting the form as such gets a message saying that none of the blogs are wordpress.com blogs (see auto robot post by sambauers above, which happened instantly, so it is a trigger on the URL field again) and I should ask my question on the .org forum (which I did a few days ago). If I try to not select a domain from the drop down I am informed it is required… as are all of those fields. Near as I can tell there is no other place (not in WP 2.7, at least) where I can delete blogs I have associated with my wordpress.COM account, which I have so I can look at the WordPress stats plugin results.
So, I am chasing my tail until wordpress.com help isn’t automated based on URL triggers it seems. :)
Maybe I’ll try ask.metafilter

Did you add your client to the blog in question as an administrator after they had signed up? Obviously you can sign in under the administrator login for the .COM blog, can’t you? That is where you will have to add them and also while signed into that account, contact staff and have them remove you from the blog after you have added the other person as an administrator. When adding them you have to add them using the email address they used to sign up for the account here.

The URL triggers are because probably 25% of the questions asked here are for self-hosted blogs and over the past few months, it seems that problem has increased daily. Some days I have sent 20 people to the .ORG forums out of 30 threads I have responded to in the forums. The changes have just been activated lately, and there are some adjustments that need to be made.

I am not being clear. it doesn’t matter whether I log in as my friend/client or myself. These aren’t blogs. We have wordpress.com ACCOUNTS, which we have to gain access to an API code for Blog Stats. With an account one can claim a blog that is self-hosted in order to view the stats, act as a global dashboard etc. No matter what I do I can’t get through the triggers in the help form, and when I posted here I got the auto trigger. I understand their desire to auto trigger to reduce the strain on support staff, but that doesn’t negate my need for help with a wordpress.com issue.
I appreciate your attempts to help me, but mostly you are telling me things I have read. I didn’t just post. I read everything I could and I searched the forums and I then attempted to use wordpress.com’s support form, but am blocked from doing so by an unfortunately (for me and others) designed “feature.” I posted in the .org forum, but I know this is a .COM issue, so it will either get ignored over there or a helpful member will tell me to post over here. Rinse, repeat.
I’d delete my account and start a new one, but I fear I will get a “you can’t register those blogs because someone else already has” It’s a vicious circle :)
Thanks, anyway. Guess, I’ll sit back and hope a rescue boat drifts by.

If I don’t know what you have tried, how am I to make a relevant suggestion?
I’ve modlooked this thread so hopefully staff will see it.
You can try emailing them at support [at] wordpress [dot] com.

I just talked with Jane from support, and to get to support without a blog, do so while NOT logged in. There will be a checkbox that says, “I so not have a blog” which you check and then it bypasses the check for a blog name. You can then explain what you need done, and please include details. If I had known right up front what you were wanting I would have sent you to support in the first place.
