You don’t have any posts on this site. http://waimeait.wordpress.com/ You have only Pages:
Audio & Visual
Board Report
Budgets – 2008
LibraryThat is why you see this on the front page:
Not Found
Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here.By default the front page of your blog displays all posts. The 404 (page not found) error message on the front page of the blog appeared because the Admin of the blog deleted the placeholder Hello World post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/not-found/ As soon as you publish a post, not a page it will disappear. Read the differences between Pages and Posts.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/On the bottom of your Admin page you will find a link to the step by step Learn WordPress.com blogging Tutorial prepared by Staff. http://learn.wordpress.com/
The support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also on the bottom of your Admin page. -
Thanks Timethief, As you can see I am very new at this. We have a Blog which we do want which I assumed was on the same site as it comes up when we log in. I was nervous that if I deleted the Blog we no longer use then it would delete the site. I thought one site contained however many blogs you wanted to put into it. Clearly this isn’t the case.

I think you’re using a British expression: when you say “Blog” you actually mean “blog post” ie one single entry in the site. We say Blog to mean the whole site and Post to mean the individual articles.
You can delete or make Private any blog Post without affecting the site as a whole, but we suggest you just set the posts to Private using the Bulk Editor on the Posts page of the dashboard. Because if you for some reason screw up and delete the Blog (a setting on the Tools page) then indeed the entire blog ie site is gone forever.

Thanks for your responses. I will try and explain the problem again. I do understand the difference between a Blog and a Post. From our login – my Blogs we have two completely separate Blogs, one was set up by a previous member of staff (several years ago) and doesn’t fulfill the purpose we now need. So we set up a new BLOG (from the same sign in). So when I go to tools – delete site
will it delete both Blogs from our sign in or does each one have a completely different site. -
Each blog is independent and deleting one will not effect the other.
Provided you are logged in under the Admin username account you can delete any blog registered under that username by using these instructions. http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
To complete the process of blog deletion you will receive an email with a confirmation link. If you think you have not received it then be be sure to look in your spam/junk mail filter for it.Note that deleted blog URLs are not recycled. If you delete the blog the URL cannot be reused by anyone.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/That’s why I usually recommend making the blog private and using it for testing and backup instead. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

Thank you so much. I understand now. I take your point regarding the URL and so at this stage I have just made it private.
