Deleting a domain

  Hi – I am trying to delete my domain sarahkentwhite.com so that I can delete my site and reuse the domain elsewhere. I have tried transferring the domain but never received the email confirming the transfer. Can you please help me? Thank you!

  Hi there!

  I highly recommend that you do not delete the domain. It can be difficult to regain the domain after your cancel it. First, the domain registrar may not release a domain for weeks after cancellation for you to repurchase. Additionally, there is not assurance that you’ll be able to re-register the domain, as other parties also have the opportunity to buy it when you cancel.

  I can help with your transfer. To whom are you transferring the site? Have you already begun the process with them? Are you certain that your domain contact information is correct, so you receive the transfer email?

  I noticed that your domain registration and mapping do not expire until April 28, 2015. If you’d prefer, I can assist you in remapping your domain, so it “points” to your site at its new host. This way you’re not paying additional domain hosting fees with a new company. You are welcome to keep the domain here until it is close to expiration, and then transfer it to your new host.
