Deleting a mysterious gravatar

  Hello,
  I am trying to delete an old gravatar that’s hanging around my account. It shows up on the left side of my dashboard, even while my newer, preferred gravatar shows up on the right side. When I go into settings to delete the old one, it doesn’t even show up alongside my other gravatars, so I don’t know how to delete it. When I link a blog post to Facebook, the old horrible gravatar shows up. HOW DO I GET RID OF THE THING?! What is the source of this madness?!
