Deleting a parent category – invisible sub-category problem
-
Hi,
I have a problem with category management.
I just deleted a parent category with a few sub-categories on the category management.
Then, the sub-categories were removed – which is good. But when I try to re-create a category that has an identical name with one of those auto-removed sub-categories, it says it exists.
On the post edit page, those seemed-to-be-deleted sub-categories appear on the category section.
Did I do anything wrong or is this a bug?
Thanks in advance,
-
I believe that you need to go to whatever entries those categories and sub-categories were used, and re-publish. Then wordpress will acknowledge that those ‘names’ don’t exist anymore. Even though you deleted the categories, they still show on the entries until you republish.

I have removed the categories from the database. They should no longer show up on the Write Post page.

Thank you for the reply. As far as I checked the posts I have, there’re no entries that are set in those categories that I deleted. Maybe because the staff helped me fixed it.
Thank you for helping me out. I just checked my categories and they are removed. Thanks again for the support.
