Deleting a Website

Hi all. Happy New years! I had a query that I can’t find an answer to. A few years ago I deleted my old WordPress site and everything seemed to be fine however I have just realised after a google search my site is still up but now I do not have access to it though my profile/account (it states I have no website.) My understanding was that the site would be completely deleted however it just seems that I no longer have access to it but it is still being hosted? Please could someone give me some advice as to how to get the site removed?

I went through all the instructions to delete it through my account page and thought I had completed it correctly but it still exists. Unfortunately when I go on my profile it says I don’t have a website to access!
No idea what to do about fixing this!

Hi there,
I checked the site and it does not look like it was ever deleted. You’ll need to log into the account connected to that site in order to delete it, as the account you are contacting us from isn’t connected to the site.
Once you do regain access, you can follow the instructions on our support page to delete the site:

Thanks for commenting, I wonder could you please tell me which account/username this website is associated with? I have had the email I requested the new password link with for over two decades and I am certain that this was the email that was associated with the website.
I thought the username was Herbyvore but was not sent a reset link when I entered it – I was unaware that I had two wordpress accounts but I desperately need to delete this website due to personal safety issues. Any help you can give I would be incredibly grateful for. -
https://wordpress.com/forums/users/herbyvore/ is the account associated with the site but you’ll need to still be able to reach the email address associated with the site to reset the password.

We are not able to help here in the support forums, as verifying account ownership requires us to ask you to provide info that is best not shared in this public venue.
With this in mind, please fill out this form here to the best of your ability: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery
This will send all the info you have to our account recovery team, and from there they will contact you directly to assist you in regaining access to the account that owns herbyvore.wordpress.com so that you can delete it.

Oh thank you so much, I have tried using the requested form however I do not have any of the 3 identifying pieces information they have asked for. Looking through the FAQ I noticed that I can request to turn the account private even without the login info?
“The following options are available in this circumstance:
If there’s personal information on your blog, you may request that we set it to private so that search engines and users can’t access it. ”
How can I make this happen as I cannot move past the account recovery stage?
