Deleting a WordPress site

Attempting to delete a website. Cannot find ‘Danger Zone’, or ‘Delete’ anywhere. Only one site (that’s all I have) appears to be listed and no option delete anywhere. Thoughts?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

Have you followed the instructions in the Delete a website support page? Why would you expect to find a “Danger Zone” link, item, or what have you?

“If you’re using WordPress.com, the “Danger Zone” option is only visible when you’re inside Settings → General of the specific site you want to delete.
Sometimes the delete option doesn’t show if the site is still connected to a plan, a domain, or has pending services attached.

Make sure you’re inside the correct site dashboard, not your main account dashboard.
If the option still doesn’t appear, go to Tools → Export, download your content, then contact WordPress.com support — they can manually remove the site for you.

I recently had a similar issue while managing another tool I use, like https://myagecalculate.com/, and the dashboard layout can be confusing depending on whether you’re on a paid or free plan.

So check Settings → General → Danger Zone again. If it’s missing, it usually means support needs to delete it from the backen

@musicdoc1 There is indeed a “Danger Zone” these days. But as the OP doesn’t have a site hosted here perhaps deleting a site works differently for self hosted sites as they no doubt need to close account/payment and cancel their domain at their host. Here is the WordPress.com “Danger Zone” Bonkers!

    @noahbennett849, @themagicrobot,

Thanks guys, for the explanations. Is there a support page that includes a succinct overview of the “Danger Zone” and its four options?

Not really an overview. Just instructions for the individual options found there.

Well, I appreciate the help, however I’ve exhausted all suggested options with no luck. (It’s a free site so human help isn’t apparently an option).
I’m at a loss. Sticking point seems to be when attempting to find Settings for the site, (three ellipses ), via the Sites List, it displays only WP Admin, Visit Site, Jetpack Cloud, and Leave Site. No other options.

Since I’m an amateur in any of this, I wonder if I’m missing something simple. Could Jetpack be an issue, and if so does anyone have any thoughts on finding a solution?

Again, thanks for the help. It’s appreciated.

@adventuredog96921 So what is the full URL of the site here that you wish to delete? The site listed in your first post isn’t a free site hosted at WordPress.com and you’d need to log into that site directly at Siteground (and at Tucows for the domain) to close whatever paid accounts you have there. Accessing the site via a Jetpack connection to your WordPress.com account isn’t the way to close a site not hosted here.

    Understood. Thank you!

I was finally able to delete it through Siteground. Victory. Now to completely and thoroughly reeducate myself regarding Websites, Domains, etc

    Many thanks for all replies!
