Deleting account
-
How can I delete my account permanently with all my data – not changing the password to a random string?
-
Good Morning – On WordPress.com you are able to inactivate your account and unsubscribe from all WordPress.com. These instructions will walk you through removing all personal data from your account prior to inactivation: https://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/
User accounts are not fully deleted and they are each unique. This prevents someone from being able to register your old user name and impersonate you, or harm your reputation in the future.
-
That is not correct. Old usernames should be blacklisted, and the accounts with all the related data deleted permanently.
-
You can follow the instructions here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/ This is the only option currently for account removal at WordPress.com

That is not account removal. That is just making the account that still contains my protected personal data unaccessible to myself. Account removal means that my protected personal data is getting removed from the database where I do not want it to be present. If it cannot be done any other way I recommend WordPress.com to ask one of their web developers to run a very simple database query that removes the records that I do not wish to be in that database anymore.

@foofoobarbarfoofoobarbar , accounts can only be disabled, not deleted. You can remove your own details from the account as instructed. You could also change the username (further preventing you from accessing the old username) but they cannot be deleted because they cannot be recycled.

@suernovia: If I change my email to a random email and I cannot confirm the new email (as it would be a random email that does not exist), what’s going to happen? Also, what is the guarantee the my email and other personal data is not stored in any other database tables / logfiles, etc …
-
@foofoobarbarfoofoobarbar you would use a throwaway address instead (one you can confirm then delete.) If you’d like us to do this step for you we can. Just know you’ll be permanently locked out of the account (and you already are permanently locked out of the old username.)
Also, I noticed you still use a Gravatar with this email address . Did you want to get rid of that as well? You’ll need to log into Gravatar.com and remove any images.
