Deleting account

  I would like to delete my WordPress.com account but do not want it to affect my self hosted WordPress account. I have them under two different email addresses. Will I be able to delete the one I’m not using anymore?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  You can delete your WordPress.com account and it won’t delete your actual site on another host. The things it would affect are your Gravatar (shown in your post above) that you might use as your profile picture on your site or in comments, and the ability to use the Jetpack plugin. There are a few other Automattic owned sites that use a WordPress.com login as well like WooCommerce, and access to those would be cancelled by deleting this account.

  If you don’t need a connection for Jetpack or Gravatar, then feel free to delete the account.

  Ok thanks for your quick response! I don’t need the gravatar (I’m happy to get rid of this one) but I do have Jetpack as a plugin on the other site (though I’m not sure what I’m using it for). I’m still learning a lot but don’t want to lose access to that site but still want to delete this one. Sorry if I’m being confusing.

  You can delete your site https://acolorfulvoice.wordpress.com/ (although personally I would just set it to private) but it might be a good idea to keep your WordPress.com account as the JetPack plugin is very useful for stats etc.

  Additionally, you won’t lose access to your self hosted site if you change this account. Your site has its own database of users totally independent from this one. You have a WordPress.com login, and you have a login on your site. These are totally separate and one won’t affect the other.

  Jetpack is used for stats and to allow people to follow your blog, but there are some other WordPress.com features it adds to self hosted blogs.

  I would suggest just hiding the WordPress.com site, as @themagicrobot suggested. That way, you only have two sites public on the internet. https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  Ok thanks to both of you. I didn’t realize setting it private was an option.
