Deleting account
-
Is there a good reason why I can’t simply delete the account I set up, leaving the blog address available for future registration by me or someone else?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your blog address and your account are two separate things. Your account tied to your username and email address cannot be deleted. Your blog URL can be deleted, but then it can never be used again.
In both cases it is to prevent someone else from registering the same username or blog URL and impersonating you. More information here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-wordpress-com-user-or-accountIf you no longer want to use your account, even though you cannot delete it, you can remove all personal information you added and render the account inactive. Since deleted blog names are never recycled – clear the blog of content and leave a single Post with comments enabled and set to “Moderate” (so you will get an email if someone leaves a comment) – with a note that the blog name is available for someone else to use
Sorry but there is no “release for reuse” setting here
