Deleting account and Reblogs
-
if I delete my account, will reblogs of my posts to other wordpress sites also be deleted?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Hi there, I do not know if this is the same behavior today, but in the past I tested this and if the original poster deleted their post (or site) what remained on the reblogger’s site was the comment the reblogger added, if any. The reblog itself was removed. However, any image that was uploaded to the reblogged post remained in the reblogger’s Media Library.
I’ve tagged this for Staff to update on the behavior of deleted reblogs and their related images on the reblogger’s site.

Hi there,
When you disable reblogs the behaviour is as @justjennifer described. The comment the reblogger made will still be visible on their site, but the excerpt of and link to your post will no longer appear on their site. The same should happen if your site or the individual posts are deleted.
Note that this is only if someone reblogged using the reblog button. If someone copied your post directly onto their site, deleting your site won’t do anything to the content on their site.

I have a question related to this — I removed the reblog button from posts on my blog, yet my posts have still occasionally been reblogged.
I assume this means people are reblogging through the share feature in the Reader. Is there any way to disable this as well?
I assume no, but I think it should be an option. I know, my content is out there so I have no rights to stop it even though I own the content. (And I do not wish to make chunks or all of my blog private…)
I’m sure I already know the answer, but I wanted confirmation. Thanks.

@whatsandrathinks I’d be happy to pass that feedback along. To clarify, are you asking for the ability to get rid of the “share” option in the reader altogether, or did you only mean to not let folks share here?
Please note, even if we get rid of that button, people can still share your post on Facebook and Twitter and what not just by copying and pasting the link. Reblog works in much the same way.

@supernovia – I feel like I’ve overlooked something or perhaps looked at the Reader in a different screen.
When I am in the Reader’s “Followed Sites” homepage in a web browser and click on the Share button the only thing I see are my sites that I can select which one to Reblog the post from the Reader. There are no social media sharing buttons/links (i.e. FB, Twitter, etc.) nor do those sharing buttons appear when I click through the excerpt on the Reader homepage to the post itself in the Reader. The only thing that appears in Sharing are sites I can reblog the post to.
Thanks for looking.

Ah, this is my bad. I’m so used to that sharing button meaning we can share out to social media sites. I could potentially see any sharing buttons on the reader going under that some icon though.
Also, that icon is similar to sharing on Facebook, for example, in that it will show a featured image, a little text, and a link back to the site.

@supernovia – Thanks for clarifying.
I also associate that icon with sharing to social media sites. If I’m not mistaken, there was an option to share to social media sites directly from the Reader via a web browser. With their removal “sharing” has become exclusively an internal loop. From my side I see this as a liability. Even Feedly gives me an option to share to social media sites from their web app.
But getting back to @whatsandrathinks asked about reblogging from the Reader as she turned off the Reblog button on her site, you can add my feedback/request to remove reblogging from the Reader if the user has turned it off on their site. To the best of my (pre-coffee) recollection that was the behavior previously.
Thanks for listening.
