Deleting an old blog without access to email
-
Hey, I started a blog back in 2008 and have not used it since. I had it connected to an old work email that I definitely do not have access to. I know that I can contact WP and ask to change it to private but is there any way I can gain access to this old account so that I can delete the blog permanently? I don’t know what other information I could provide to prove that I was the original owner of the blog but I would really appreciate some assistance on this. It is very frustrating to not have a lot of support on something that can be pretty simple. I did the same for a linkedin profile and they were able to delete it without my old email address (that I longer have access to). I cannot log into the account, because I don’t have the email address to even re-set the password and would really like the blog deleted permanently. Please help.

You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard.
Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden
If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibilityIf you have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
If required please complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums which are available to everyone with internet access.

Yes, but the issue is that I cannot log in. My concern is that I cannot remember the email that I used and they will not be able to help me. This happened with a friend of mine and she submitted a form to the recovery account and all WP staff could do was change it to private because she couldn’t recall the email used. Then what do you do?

There is nothing more that I can do for you. There is a single means of account recovery and I provided the link to the account recovery form. If you can recover the account then you can delete the blog.

So if I literally have tried everything and because I don’t recall nor have access to the email address used, then there is no possible way to recover access to my account?

Please complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and include as much information as you can, then submit it to the Account Recovery Staff so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums which are available to everyone with internet access.

Ok, so to be perfectly honest, I made up this blog name because I went through this last year with my old blog. I got an email from one of the happiness engineers who tried to help but because the email I thought I used was not the correct one, the only thing they could do was mark my blog as private. That’s been fine, so I am wondering if it is even worth it to try and go down that road again and re-open this issue so I can be able to permanently delete the blog or if I should just let it be private and hopefully it will remain that way. I would love for an account recovery staff to contact me by email so I can try and explain this issue. Does this make sense at all? Thank you for all your feedback.

I am not providing feedback as there is nothing to discuss on this public support forum. I am providing the only relevant instructions for account recovery. Every thread here is instantly indexed by Google and available to all with internet access. There is only one method of account recovery – period. YOU need to act. YOU need to contact the Account Recovery Staff and the only way to do that has been provided to you at this link. https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery
