Deleting and Editing Categories

  Hi, I’m as new to WordPress as can be. I’m trying to delete a category I accidentally misspelled, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove it. I’ve Googled it extensively, and it appears I use a somewhat different version of WordPress than whomever I’m getting assistance from.

  1. To edit categories in your dashboard go to Dashboard> Posts > Categories

  What’s dashboard? I just have a blog. I have no idea what, or how to access this ‘dashboard’ you speak of.

  Thanks for the links and stuff. I realized what I needed to do in order to ‘delete’ a category. It doesn’t actually give you an option to ‘delete’ instead you go to your blog posts, click edit, then on the left hand side unselect the category you have it filed under and just create a new one. If there are no posts in that category it doesn’t show on the blog page.

  Example;
  I created a category for Coffee, but misspelled it ‘cofee’. I clicked on the edit button of the post, unchecked ‘cofee’ as the category, and then created a new one ‘coffee’ and filed it under that.
