deleting and reuploading files

  I uploaded some files to my wordpress site and after some time I wanted to upload newer versions of them, so I deleted the files from wordpress and uploaded the new ones. My problem is that wordpress changes the names of the files and adds a number in the end. If it was just some picture on a post, then I wouldn’t care, but these are several documents which are already numbered and I don’t want wordpress to add more number to their names. Any help would be appreciated.

  Have you tried editing the image file name in the WP Admin > Media Library? Here’s a direct link (for your provemeright blog): https://provemeright.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php

  I can edit the title of the file which is not the file name for some reason. When I access the files in my site, for example in order to add some of them to one of my pages, then I see the title, but if someone else open them through a link in the site, he will see the name of the files with the extra numbers.
