Happy to help you with this query. Here are two ways to remove a block from your post/page on WordPress.
Option 1: Using the Toolbar
Step 1: Click on the block that you want to remove and you should see the pop-up toolbar right above it.
Step 2: Click the vertical aligned three dots to trigger the drop-down menu with commands.
Step 3: Peruse the list for the command ‘Remove block’ and once found click that option to delete/remove the block from your post.
Option 2: Using the Keyboard
Step 1: Click on the block that you want to remove and press the following keys at the same time. Shift + Alt + Z to remove the block from your post/page.

Hi!
I’m not using a desk top, so desk top short cuts won’t work.
When I click on the block, a tool bar doesn’t pop up, instead the edit field pops up.

Oh okay, so I take it that you’re using the mobile application?
In your view when you click a block you should see a gear icon and three dots in horizontal alignment.
Click the three dots and a List block options command box should appear. To delete the block, look for the command ‘Remove block’ in the block of options and select it.
Doing so should remove the block from your page.

I am using a mobile device, but am not using the mobile application. I am using the web version. I found the application hard to use

Okay awesome, thank you for letting me know.
So for the web version, there is a pop-up toolbar and this is how we can get the block removed.
Here are the steps to complete this
Step 1: Click or highlight the block that you want to delete and then scroll to the very top of your page. At the top, you should see two rows with identical vertically aligned dots.
Step 2: Select the dots in the second row as highlighted in this screenshot https://snipboard.io/jRtuUf.jpg
Step 3: A drop-down will appear with commands after clicking the vertical dots second row. Search in that drop-down for the command ‘Remove block’ and click it after you’ve found it. The location and drop-down are highlighted in the following screenshot: https://snipboard.io/NgdA8V.jpg
After completing those steps you should be able to remove your block in the mobile web version. Please let me know your progress with this :)
