Deleting blog

I deleted a blog earlier today, but when I type in the web address, it and all of the contents are still online.
How long will it take to be deleted?

All blogs are independent websites. What you do on one has NO impact on others, regardless of whether or not there are multiple blogs registered under the same username account.
To delete a WordPress.COM hosted blog you must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to navigate to Dashboard > Tools > Delete Site. The guide is here http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made except for the one stated here http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
Alternatively, to change blog visibility to Private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings

IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting public blogs and/or blog content from them does not remove indexed content from the SERPs (search engine page results) and we cannot help with that. Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months. To completely remove an entire page from Google search results after it produces a 404 (page not found):

I’m not completely sure what happened. I deleted it (another note: it was in the midst of importing) and the site isn’t present in the list of sites that I own anymore…

You cannot import into a site that no longer exists. https://calsociologyblog.wordpress.com/ exists.
What is the exact URL starting with http:// of the site you refer to please?
And, exactly which username account registered that site?
I’m asking because we cannot accurately answer questions posted here until we have confirmed the URL referred to and verified the hosting. And, that is why we are all prompted to provide the relevant URL when we create a new thread.

I went through the deletion process, and after that I had no control/ownership over the site anymore.
So as of now, even if I wanted to try to delete it, I can’t.

it says that I do not have the necessary privileges to access it.Would it be possible for you to just delete it?
