Deleting blog and redirecting to new site

  Hi,

  I have a registered domain with WordPress.com and plan to register a new one. I’d like my existing one to redirect to the new one and I know wordpress charges a fee for this per year, but after I import my blog to it’s new home, I plan to delete it (the old domain). My question is: what happens to a blog once it’s deleted and if someone searches for my blog by it’s old name, will they be redirected to the new one? How should I go about doing this?

  If you delete a blog, it’s gone forever and can’t be redirected.

  Instead, I recommend purchasing a Site Redirect upgrade for the old blog, then make the old blog private via Settings -> Privacy in its Dashboard.
