Deleting Blogs and related stuff
-
If I add a second or third blog to be used for testing because I want to try something I don’t fully understand, can I completely delete it? By deleting it, I don’t mean. make it empty, but really discard that blog name forever. If for example I have my main blog under my name like “bobsmith” and I add another called bobbysmith” as my test blog, can I get rid of “bobbysmith” blog forever, throwing that name back to the pool of blogs or just make it invisible? Are there any good ways to test things other than creating a test blog? Is there any way to back up a session, and then if I do something silly during it and can’t recover, go back to that precise backup I created when starting a blog edit session? That would make me braver in editing since I knew I could always “undo” the entire session if I did something dumb.
thanks Tom

Yes you can delete them, but be warned that even you cannot get it back once it is deleted. WordPress does not recycle blog names.

You can make a blog invisible by making it private.
You could copy your page html onto a new blank page (test page) and experiment on that. Then when you get what you like, copy the code to your real page to publish. Drafts are not visible to the public so your test page won’t show. Delete the draft when finished.

I have two test blogs. It’s a good way to experiment. Traffic to both is nil because there are no links to them anywhere. I’d just keep it, you know. It doesn’t make any difference if it’s there, and as tsp says, once it’s gone it’s gone forever.
I don’t know of a way of backing up, but pretty much anything you can do is recoverable. Be brave! If you’re talking about trying CSS editing, then use the free preview function before you buy. Save stylesheets in a text file on your hard drive.

At the bottom of each post are a list of the last 5 revisions that WordPress keeps for you while you are editing. http://support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/
If you do a lot of editing, try using an offline editor, like EditPad or Windows Live Writer, just anything but MSWord!
