Deleting Blogs No Longer Wanted (or a member of)
-
Why has WP.com after these many years not enabled the ability of site owners to remove unwanted blogs themselves? Why must blog owners continue to be caught in this endless loop of bothering staff members with this nonsense?
I had one blog in question removed some time ago, it simply reappeared. I have contacted the administrator of that site, they seem to refuse to acknowledge my requests to remove me as an administrator.
It’s a ridiculous cycle that can’t be broken simply because WP will not make possible the blog owner (me) the ability to remove them myself.
It’s the same thing as not being able to remove disingenuous ‘likes’ and faux followers who are just spammers from our rolls. Come on WP, get with the times.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Provided you post the URLs of self hosted blogs you want deleted from your account into a forum thread like this one, Staff can do this for you. Please do that now as I tagged this thread for their assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

I neglected to post that URL, oops. This was not a self hosted site. I was administrator for this church website and bowed out. I should have removed myself from the Admin roll but didn’t. That site is:
http://thepotterswheelchurch.org/
I suppose it will simply reappear if deleted. ggrrrr.

That’s NOT a free hosted WordPress.COM site.
It’s a “powered by WordPress” self hosted install and you can verify that by clicking the footer link. -
I have disconnected thepotterswheelchurch.org from Jetpack for you. It will no longer appear in your list of blogs on WordPress.com.

Jackie, I very much appreciate your help with this. I was told by another ‘HE’ last year that if I did a certain something (what ever that was) that site would reappear in my Admin area. And it did. I hope it stays gone this time for good. I really don’t want to be associated with that site any longer. Again, thank you. John

If you reconnect the site to Jetpack on your ourvegas account, it will reappear. Otherwise, it should not.
-
I suppose that couldn’t happen since ORL is not self-hosted. The site you disconnected ORL from is a self-hosted website…
-
Jetpack is our plugin for self-hosted sites that brings some of the WordPress.com functionality to those sites. The plugin connects to WordPress.com to utilize some of our functionality, so it requires a WordPress.com account to activate.
If the site wants to use Jetpack in the future, the site owner can connect it to a different WordPress.com account and it should work just fine. Assuming they don’t have access to your account and you are not on a shared computer (or one on which you are logged in), your account should not be accessible to them in the future.

I see. Thank you for clarifying this. The site owners there do not know my PW or login name for the ORL account so I assume that will stop them from reconnecting their self hosted to my account. WP.com is so much better. My gripes are few but the biggest thing right now for me is that there is no way to stop the ‘Like’ spammers or followers who are only following to benefit their pocket books. Apparently, WP has no plans to stop this or give site owners the capability to chip away these unwanted followers.

We are aware of the spam Likes and Followers issue and continue to discuss ways to resolve it in such a way as to not interfere with actions by legitimate users.
Keep in mind your followers are private, and you can always turn off Likes if they concern you.
