deleting categories

How do I delete unwanted categories from my list? I have some that are misspelled, and I never use them, but I can’t figure out how to remove them.

In your dashboard go to Manage -> Categories. You can delete them selectively from that screen.

Just a note: The sidebar is cached and it may take a little bit before the deleted categories disappear from there. -

There is a category consisting of 6 or 7 numbers that keeps appearing in my catergories list everyday. I did not add it, but I delete it everyday and it will reappear the next day. What is that all about?

I get this too; the numbers I get are 264056
Everytime I delete it, it re-appears within a day or two… and I just discovered that it had also set itself as the default tag for any entries. -
