Deleting Categories?
-
I am trying to delete a top level category on one of my blogs. This is because I have remade it as a subcategory of another different top level category, and want to delete the older duplicate. Is there a way to do this?
I have found some help online, but all the articles I read were outdated, ranging from 2011 and backwards, and don’t seem to apply to the current WordPress interface. If there is a way to delete categories, it isn’t particularly obvious and I have found this whole situation VERY frustrating. I am new to wordpress and while navigation is not impossible, some parts of the UI are confusing and overly simplified.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I am having the exact same problem. The help article refers to “WP Admin” but I can’t figure out how to get into anything that looks like this. None of the interface I can access looks like the images in the article. When I hover over the categories in my post, no options pop up.

You can access the WP Admin dashboard by adding “/wp-admin/” to the end of your domain name in the address bar when you’re on your homepage. Here’s what that looks like: https://theheavenlylight.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

I had the same problem as hayzlenutt but thank you micawbr for clearing that up!
I have now successfully deleted the unwanted category. Also currently exploring the admin dashboard – seems to have a lot of really useful tools that I would have otherwise not known about.
I just wish there WAS a more obvious/simple way to access it than manually typing it in the URL!
