    Hi,

    See the Managing Categories in WP Admin section of the Categories support page.

    I should have checked the forum before posting my question. Those instructions don’t work for me. It says to go to Posts, go to categories, and then I should be able to edit them. I don’t have a ‘Post’ menu. There is Stats, Plan, Blog Posts, Pages, Themes, Menu, etc. The only place where I can view my categories is on Blog Posts, but it won’t allow me to edit them.

    Am I missing something? The WP Admin section you pointed to says this:

    The Posts -> Categories page in your dashboard displays all your categories and shows the name, description, and number of posts belonging to each category. If you move your mouse over a category a set of options will appear, allowing you to edit, quick-edit, or delete that category:

    Actually, not on my dashboard, they don’t. No amount of mouse-hovering will achieve the set of options pop-up that this refers to. Are there other ways of deleting or editing categories?

    @maisonmiaou,

    @kathrynash

    The WP Admin dashboard is an older dashboard that has mostly been replaced by the Calypso (aka “New Blue”) dashboard for many WordPress.com users. However, WP Admin is still necessary for accomplishing a number of tasks, including deleting and editing categories.

    The WP Admin dashboard may be reached by appending “/wp-admin” to the end of your site URL.

    @maisonmiaou,
    Your WP Admin Categories page is https://maisonmiaou.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=category.

    @kathrynash,
    What is the address of the WordPress.com site that you are referring to?

    Btw, I use the WP Admin dashboard all of the time, except when I’m forced to use the Customizer to change or edit header images and backgrounds, which used to be available on separate pages via the WP Admin left sidebar panel.

    Thanks for your reply. I managed to nut-out the correct URL to see my dashboard in its entirety by copy-pasting the URL you gave to another forum poster asking the same question and substituting my own website deets into the url. I found the section I needed. Problem solved.

    except when I’m forced to use the Customizer

    On closer inspection, I see that there are actually two versions of Customize for each site, which appear to be identical except for their URLs. One is still part of WP Admin, and the other is in Calypso. So, essentially I find no reason to use the Calypso interface, and only do so to run tests when helping others in the support forums.

    @ kathrynash,

    Good detective work. Glad you’ve got it resolved. : -)
