Deleting Catgories

  I have some post that are set in categories. I want to delete some of my categories because I am changing some things around with my blog. I know how to delete the category but I want to know if I delete a category will it delete the post within it?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  1. To edit or delete a category assigned to a post (whether it’s a draft or has already been published), go to Dashboard → Posts → All Posts in your dashboard, hover over the title and click the Edit link. To delete the post click the Trash link.

  2. To edit/delete categories in your dashboard go to Dashboard → Posts → Categories

  http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=category

  * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.

  3. To edit or delete dynamic category pages in your custom menu go to Dashboard > Appearance > Menus

  http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php

  * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.

  4. To edit or delete Tags go to

  * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.

  The combined total of categories and tags assigned to any post must not exceed 15 or it will not display on WordPress.COM Categories and Tags pages and in the WordPress.COM Reader. Never assign the same keyword as both a category and a tag as they are considered to be the same for search engine purposes.   I don’t want to delete any post. I just wanted to know if I delete a category will it delete the post that it’s attached to?
