Deleting certain information when you didn't set up the blog
-
Our colleague sadly passed away in September 2015 and he was our go to guy for all things IT. He set up our WordPress blog and taught many of the teachers in our school how to blog. He set up the main school blog and a number of blogs for individual teachers. Since he passed away, some of those teachers are no longer working here and we would like to remove their blog from the main school blog. A year since his passing, we also feel it’s time to remove his class blog from the main school blog. As he set up the main blog along with some of the individual class blogs, we don’t have access to delete some of the information. Is there anyone who can help us with this? I would greatly appreciate help with this. I’m not sure how to access a response to my query in case responses are emailed to his account which is listed in the account settings for the school blog. My email address is (email visible only to moderators and staff) in case you need to contact me as I do a lot of work maintaining the school blog now. Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @scoilcarmel, sorry to hear that :(
This definitely is a sticky situation; basically we’ll still need proof that you should have access. We’ll get in touch via email to sort this out.

Thank you supernova for your reply.
I am a teacher in the school and help out running the blog now and have my own classroom blog under the name Miss Fitzmaurice.
I will check back through my emails to see if you have been in touch.
I see you have deleted my email address from my post so if you need it to reply, just let me know as the email address link to the school if that of my late colleague.
Thank,
Carol

Hi @scoilcarmel, as staff we use the email address you have on file here:
https://wordpress.com/me/accountWe haven’t heard back from you yet, so please be sure to check your bulk/social folders if you aren’t seeing the email in your regular inbox. Thanks!

Hi Supernova,
That e-mail address on file is that of our colleague who passed away. We wouldn’t have had access to his password therefore we can’t read your email. Please e-mail (email visible only to moderators and staff) and I can answer any questions you may need so I can provide proof that I should be able to access the account. I think we also need to change the email address related to the wordpress blog.
Thanks,
Carol

@scoilcarmel, please update the email address at https://wordpress.com/me/account
You will need to click a confirmation link at the new address.
The old address will just receive notification of the change (in case it was not correct.)
Once that’s done we’ll see what else needs to happen to give you access. Thanks!

I have followed the above steps and can see in the users section my email address is there as administrator. However I am not able to access some of the classroom blogs to delete.
I can delete a few that I personally set up earlier in the year but not the ones that were set up by my colleague.
Please advise me what to do next. -
I have noticed that I can delete the links to all the classroom blogs from our main school blog page. But I am unable to delete certain blogs and their content. Will this be possible?

Hi
I can delete a few that I personally set up earlier in the year but not the ones that were set up by my colleague.
Which sites? If you’ll send links I’ll check to see if you have sufficient authorization.

No I can’t log in as that account was set up by my colleague who passed away for a teacher who is no longer working in our school. Therefore I am not able to delete that account.
-
Okay, I can see you have a different email address now. I’ll try sending account recovery instructions there.
