Deleting Comment Field

    Hi Guys,

I’m very, very new to blogs and am slowly finding my way around WordPress. To start off my blog i have decided to use the ‘ChaoticSoul’ template.

Under the aout page i have left a description of myself etc with no problems. However when i view the page, at the bottom is a field for leaving comments etc. Is there any way to remove the comments field as i don’t want it on this page.

    Is this possible?

    Thanks for the help guys!

Yes, I do believe that css customization may provide a way to remove the comment field or at least to “cover” it. Do you have css editing experience? Are you willing to purchase a css customization upgrade, provided that a css expert says that you can achieve this with an upgrade?

As you do not have the correct answers to the questions posed perhaps your time would be better spent by learning the contents of the FAQs. :)

This question poses the question: Why do static pages have a comment box in them? Heaven knows. To me its a nonsense. A page with comments is not a page it is a post. We can’t edit the templates. SO: can we use CSS? I don’t think we can and I have thought hard about this. If the templates had slightly different xhtml we could. But I do not think we can. Sorry. Anon may have been unnecessarily brief. But he is right. :)

Thanks for weighing in on this.

Now I have your css answer i have something else to offer. I believe that the blogger can simply go to the far right hand side of the editor box on the Page in question and click the blue button -> Discussion+
Then once it opens he or she remove the indication for “Allow Comments”.
I tested this on my test blog and it worked fine.

TT is correct, you can just turn off the comment option under Manage->Pages->Edit->Discussion options.

Well dang. We got sidetracked by the CSS but of course it can be turned of in admin > discussion. Duh!
    Sorry. :)

No sheesh … I’m the dull wit in this case. I went off on a css tangent … I’m sorry :(

OT: is your email not working?

Thanks for all the help guys! I’m glad the solution was straight forward, i’ve just been reading up on CSS and it seems a little trick for a noob like me!
