Deleting Comments I've Made On Blogs

    I feel very frustrated to realize that WordPress doesn’t allow me to delete the comments that I’ve made on other people’s blogs. I’ve made comments on blogs with an old WordPress account that I now entirely regret, and at the time I was very young, not knowing all the risks of the internet and the importance of privacy, and I used my full name when making those comments. I have tried to contact the blog owners and they are unwilling to remove those comments, which associate my full name to their blog.

    I have made an official request to WordPress but an automatic reply just tells me that management of comments in a blog is the blow owner’s responsibility.

    I really need a solution because I’m concerned about how this can affect my career and other areas of my life, as a basic google search for my name will show those comments I made on those blogs many years ago using my name, and I really don’t want to be associated with those blogs.

    Wordpress.com legally can’t and won’t interfere with sites running on the wordpress.com platform unless they violate our TOS.
    There is no way round, the only solution is to contact the owners of those sites and ask them if they are willing to remove your comments.

    Since the blog owners won’t delete your comments (and rightly so in my opinion), your next best option is create more recent hits regarding your name. Whether on blogs, social media sites, etc, get your name associated with current sites and ideas so as to push those older results down the page.

    @bookstooge – The comments I made aren’t in any way offensive or anything of that sort, they are simple nice comments such as “nice blog” , but the blogs themselves are associated to some online communities and organizations that in the last years have gained a very bad reputation due to their unethical practices. This means that a person searching my name will find associations of my name with such organizations, this is my concern.

    If I’m not mistaken, other blogging platforms do allow me to remove comments I made on other people’s blogs.

    And yes, for now it seems that the first or only option I have is to create recent hits, as you suggest.
