Deleting Comments on Another's Post
-
I really want to delete a comment that I made, tagging a page that no longer exists. I’ve tried contacting the host of the website, but I don’t think she will reply. I think it would make WordPress far more user-friendly if users had the ability to delete comments with ease, instead of having to contact the website’s creator to do so. With all the amazing things we can do on WordPress, it’s hard to believe that I can post a comment so easily, but removing it is so difficult. This is preventing me from moving on with my new blog concept so PLEASE HELP!

That’s not possible without the full cooperation of the blog’s owner in question.

I disagree. I think the internet would be far enjoyable and feel like a safer place if everyone knew that what they say online is something they may have to live with appearing online forever.

You should be able to retract your comment if no one replied or your comment is no longer valid (the website is no longer in use). I just don’t think the original comment left by YOU on someone’s other blog should belong to the OWNER of the blog you have post comment on. The fact that you can’t protect yourself once you hit send, doesn’t make me fee safe.

hello timethief,
to try and remedy my situation I went and deleted my entire website, but now I want to transfer the domain I own (sheseessights.com) to my new wordpress account. I think I need to remove the domain mapping from the previous website I had in order to start over. Can I do this myself or do I seek help from Support? Are you a Support member? lol

To confirm the comments, anything you post on someone else’s site is owned by that person. It would be like if you wrote in a person’s guestbook when entering their home: it would be invasive to try to get back in and remove it after the fact. Personally, if information has changed and the site owner is not responding to requests, I’d suggest posting a followup comment instead.
The domain comment is addressed in another thread, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread, too. Cheers, all!
