Deleting domain

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, last night I deleted my domain name and I’m not sure if that means I’ve deleted all of the content. I didn’t compute that by deleting my domain name ( as I hadn’t realised I’d paid for that and wanted a refund) would potentially delete my blog altogether. Is there any way this can be undone and my work to be accessed?

    Kind regards,

    Maggie

  • Hi Maggie,

A domain is just a label, an address where you access your content, so deleting/cancelling a domain won’t have any effect on your content. It only changes how you access that content.

    Are you speaking of whatsyourstory.blog?

When you cancelled that domain and the Personal Plan on your site, your site automatically went back to using its free address, http://whatsyourstory898453726.wordpress.com/, so all your content is still available at that address. But any links for your custom domain won’t work anymore, so if you’re trying to visit your site via a browser bookmark, for example, you’ll see an error page instead.

If you try to visit the free address and still get an error page, please clear your browser cache, and the free address should start working normally.
