deleting duplicate categories

When I move my articles from “uncategorized” category to “Famille” category, they are still in the “uncategorized” category. How do I remove them from “uncategorized” category? Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    a) You can go to Posts > All Posts, click Quick Edit under each post title, uncheck Uncategorized, click Update.
    b) If you don’t want that category at all, then it’s faster to simply delete the category (in Posts > Categories). Note: if Uncategorized is still your default category, you must first go to Settings > Writing and set another category as your default one.

Thank you very much!! Using method (b) can solve my problem. But the real problem is: when I change “a bunch of” posts from one category to another using “bulk action,” the original category remains. I only want one category for each post and I do not want to edit them one by one.

    You’re welcome.
Yes, I know, bulk editing only allows you to add a category – that’s why your options are the ones I suggested. (A third option, if you hadn’t added the new category, would have been to edit the useless one and rename it.)
