Deleting files from media library

Hi, I need to delete some images from my media library but find it’s impossible. At the top of the page showing my files I have ‘add new’ ‘edit’ and ‘trash’ buttons, at the bottom there is ‘cancel’ and ‘insert’ but no option to delete. I recently changed to Windows 10, I had no problems with my previous system so wondered if that may be the cause of it? I would really like to delete these files as they are using up my storage space unnecessarily

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • At the top of the page showing my files I have ‘add new’ ‘edit’ and ‘trash’ buttons

    Try clicking the Trash button.

Please keep in mind that deleting images from the library will also remove them from any posts where they have been added, and once an image is deleted it’s gone for good. We have no way to restore deleted media files.

Thanks, I’ve tried using the trash button but it doesn’t work, which is odd as when I was using my previous system – the old Windows XP Pro – the trash button did work. I’m aware that deleting images means they will be gone for good but none of the ones I want to delete are on my blog, I’d originally uploaded them to put them there but didn’t use them so getting rid of them (if there’s a way of doing it!) doesn’t matter.

  • That is odd that the button doesn’t work, we aren’t having any other reports of that.
