deleting Google – IMPORTANT
-
I got logged as a Google+ member when I had no intention of so doing; and I find it is completely IMPOSSIBLE to delete Google+ without deleting my entire Google membership. Believe me, I spent something like four hours online trying to get help with this; but every person who says they have the solution refers to an older version of the Google+ UI.
It’s not just that I want to be rid of this bloody stupid thing: it’s that it has corrupted my system, and every time I open Chrome I get an error message about not having shut down properly. I know this is directly related to the Google+ membership.
SO … I must delete my entire Google presence in order to get my system back up; but I am logged in to WordPress.com via a gMail address!
PLEASE, some kind person: what can I do???The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

timethief, not only have I already done my utmost on the Google Help site, but all I want from WordPress is advice regarding how to handle the fact that I have a gMail address as my WP login. SURELY you can help me with that????

Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling Chrome? It may be worth a shot.

You have two separate email address settings at WordPress.com. Have you entered two different email addresses at these locations (see below) or have you entered the same one at both locations?
Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.
Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.

Yes, I deleted and reinstalled Chrome. made no difference. Nothing is going to make any difference until I delete my entire Google profile and set up another one.
The two email addresses are the gMail one and my ISP one; I didn’t use the ISP one because it wanted to associate itself with an old blogsite I’d made over a year ago and then deleted. I believed I had understood that I needed NOT to use it because of the confusion …? If I can revert to it, I shall do do FORTHWITH. Now I’ll read that link of yours … -
Does this help at all?
Delete my Google+ profile
Or this?
Stop using Google products that make me sign in, like Google+ and Gmail

It does seem to tell me there might be issues. Anything to add, timethief? – I mean, with your inside view?

We crossed. And that unlinked link :-) I’ve seen a thousand times since yesterday: it’s one that refers to the old GUI. One can no longer find a tab that offers to delete ONLY Google+ profile: it simply doesn’t exist.

I don’t have an inside view, Margaret Rose. I have never gone through particular hell so I tagged this thread for Staff assistance.

I shall give it a burl with reverting to my ISP email and see what happens: but please don’t go away forever, as I feel it isn’t going to work …

Yup.
Sighh …
Why is it always ME who comes up with these hideous complications?!
– no, it’s rhetorical, timethief. [grin] -

Made me laugh out loud!
I know I’m a pain in the (_|_) most of the time. Don’t mean to be, honest: I just get frustrated. The older you get the more you get grumpy about not being in control.
THIS WILL HAPPEN TO YOU!

You can change the email associated with your account here. But once an email has activated G+ there is no way back for that particular email. That’s just how Google operates.
-
I know that, RainCoaster: that’s why I’m nervous about how to handle this. Let me elucidate my thinking:
1) when I delete my Google profile entirely …
2) what happens to my WordPress account in the time it takes me to set up a new Google profile/email address? -
1) DO NOT DO THAT UNTIL YOU HAVE SET UP THE NEW GMAIL AND CHANGED THE EMAIL ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR ACCOUNT AND CONFIRMED THAT IT WORKS.
2) then this becomes irrelevant.
